What is your favorite thing about the romance genre?
My favorite thing about the romance genre is the journey. I love to guide my hero and heroine to their happily ever after no matter how difficult the challenges they must face.
Do you have any big plans or goals set for yourself for 2017?
I hope to complete several of the novels I’m working on including book 2 in the Wicked Series and bring life to a few of my other ideas.
What do you find to be the biggest benefit and downfall of self publishing?
The biggest benefit is complete control of you work. You decide the price, the cover, and how you put your work out there. The biggest downfall would have to be not having the time and resources to give your published book the attention it needs. Working a day job and being a single parent leaves little time to get my book out there to the public. I’m learning new ways every day, but it’s a slow process.
If you could choose to spend time in the world created by any romance novel what book would you choose and why?
I’d love to hang out in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J R Ward, as long as they were cool with me. I wouldn’t want to be on their bad side. It would never be dull that’s for sure.
Do you like HEAs or prefer something different and why?
I love the HEA’s, but my characters have to work hard for it. I never let it come easy.
What do you think is one thing that makes you stand out from other authors in the same genre(s) that you write in?
I like to write with plenty of emotion and descriptive detail. I want to transport my reader into the story and make them feel what my characters feel.
If a new reader is seeing this, what book of yours do you think they should start with? Well, if they like contemporary romance, I’d suggest they start with my novel Cross My Heart, book 1 of the Heart Falls Heroes Series. It’s a story about a former Marine who returns to his hometown, bitter and broken. The last person he wants to see is the stubborn tomboy from his past. The guy code of ethics demands he keep his hands to himself where his best friend’s sister is concerned, but she never got that memo. Apparently, neither did the Marine’s libido, because his desire for her is stronger than ever. Now, if paranormal romance is your guilty pleasure, my newest release, Passion of a Witch would be perfect. Here’s the set up. Summer is a witch sworn to marry another. Kian is a human faced with an uncertain future. Two souls forced together by a Goddess’s will. Two hearts kept together by unrelenting passion. Can Summer resist Kian’s charm? Or will she risk it all to taste the power of love? Passion of a Witch is available now for only .99 at all major ebook retailers.
What do you find to be the most rewarding thing about being an author?
Being able to share my work with other is fantastic. I love to write whether anyone reads it or not, but knowing I helped someone forget about their problems and stress and escape into a story I created is the best feeling in the world.
What is one thing that you think new authors just starting out should know or be prepared for?
It’s a lot more work than I ever anticipated. It’s not just writing, but marketing, promoting, selling, and networking. For an introvert like me, it’s extremely difficult to settle in to.
If you had to choose only one genre to write in for the rest of your life what would you choose and why?
I would always choose romance, whether their normal every day people, stubborn shifters, or space travelers. I need to read about their first kiss. Discover how they fall in love. Be there for their happily ever after when they declare their love for each other and enjoy all the sexy scenes in between. It’s an obsession for me. I’ll never get enough.
