What was the first book you ever wrote and what inspired you?
Hi. My first book was An Acute Attraction which I wrote last year. It’s the first book in The Attraction Series.
What inspired me was my love for reading & then when I went away for a weekend on my own in August last year, something popped in to my head. It was a ‘What if…’ moment. It started off as a blog, but then thanks to the wonderful feedback & support, the book was born.
Can you tell us about your work including titles and share your amazon links?
An Acute Attraction (The Attraction Series #1) and A Constant Attraction (The Attraction Series #2)
What drew you in to the romance genre?
I’m a hopeless romantic anyway. Haha!! Which ever genre I read, I also like to see a romance or love connection in them. I guess, it was also part of the fantasy. I’m single & never been truly loved by any man (Ahhhhh!!), so I think it’s all part of the fairy tale, that as a child I dreamed of. As a bigger lady, I wanted to show that anyone can enjoy love & romance.
Is romance your favorite genre to read as well as write?
Hmmm!! I wouldn’t say it has to be all romance. For example I love humour, such as in the Bridget Jones Series of books, but
who also doesn’t love a bit of Mark Darcy or even Daniel Cleaver? I also enjoy reading Crime & Mystery…but there has to be a love interest 🙂
Can you tell me something about yourself that may surprise your readers?
Eek! Oo! Ah! Okay (Thinks for a bit!) I once nearly garotted (accidentally) a famous singer I was interviewing. I was very lucky to be interviewing Irish singer, Ronan Keating a few years back. We had a sound problem with the radio mic I was wearing. When they changed mic’s, I was too distracted talking to the lush Mr Keating, I didn’t notice my new mic had a cable. So when I went to walk away after said interview, the cable went across his throat!!! To say I want the floor to gobble me up there & then, would be an understatement!
Are you excited to be a part of the upcoming Ropin Romance event?
Oh my gosh, yes! To be among so many other talented authors is such an honour, so thank you.
What do you to to help with writers block?
Hmmm!! I just walk away from it. Do something totally different. If it means I am away from it a few hours, days or what, it doesn’t matter. More often than not, something comes to me, when I am not actually thinking about it.
If you had to choose three words to describe what type of writer you are what would they be?
Novice, learner, dreamer
What is your author pen name and do you have more than one?
Not very inventive I’m afraid. My one & only pen name is A J Walters. It’s short for Amanda Jane. Right from the start though, I had readers & folk calling me AJ, which I love 😉
If you had to pick a favorite author who would it be?
Arrrgghhh!! I wondered if I would come across a question where I couldn’t just name one & this is it!
Right, I am afraid, I’m going to have to cop out of naming just one. At the time I started writing I was reading Sylvain Reynard’s, Gabriel’s Inferno Series and he just blew me away! I was entranced by his writing & seriously couldn’t put the first 2 books down! Old school, I love Shakespear. Romeo & Juliet being my favourite. I enjoy the humour of Helen Fielding & Bridget Jones…more recent a friend of mine CJ Heath has taken my heart as regards poetry. He is a wonderful new writer who has several projects/novels up his sleeve, however his poetry…Wow!! Sorry I couldn’t just name one.
Since many of the readers that will be seeing this interview and participating in the takeover will be new fans. If you had to describe your writing style and books in a single sentence what would it be?
Another ‘Eek!’ moment. (thinks)….. A unique writing voice, that will take the reader on a believable, yet fantasy like journey!
