Amy Kessler

What was the first book you ever wrote and what inspired you?
The first book I ever wrote was one called No Such thing as Normal and I wrote it Freshman year of high school. (It will NEVER see the light of day) Can’t really call it a book since it was only 30k words, but I was proud of you. I was inspired by the Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, I knew she was a young author and I was determined to kindle and follow my own passion because of that.

Can you tell us about your work including titles and share your amazon links?
I write under two names A.L. Kessler and Alexandra Webb. Under A.L. Kessler I write a series called Dark War Chronicles which is a Paranormal Romance series. The concept is that there’s a war going on outside of humans’ view, every creature is involved in it and what used to be a war about territory is now a war about power. Each book follows a different couple giving the readers different views on what is going on. Currently there are three books out, “In the Light of the Moon”, “Dance in the Moonlight” and “On Torn Wings.” I also have a book titled “Midnight Symphony” about a demon prince and a gypsy witch who fall in love and end a war between their people.

You can find them all on my Amazon page:

As Alexandra Webb, I write Erotic Romance. I have a short story out in Criminal Behavior with Mia Bishop and a Fantasy Erotic Romance Twisted Redemption. Hopefully this year Black and White Desires will be out. Criminal Behavior is a BDSM short story about a robbery gone bad (There is a HEA so it is considered romance, and no not dubious consent.) Twisted Redemption is the second book in a series (first book was written by Mia Bishop) and it’s an erotic retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

You can find them on my Alexandra Amazon page:

What drew you in to the romance genre?
I actually ended up in romance by accident. I had been writing Urban Fantasy and was getting no where. Then a chance for a contest came up for an Erotic Romance anthology and I though, eh why not, I’ll try my hand at it. I didn’t make it in, but I realized that romance was what my stories were missing. I tried for the second volume of that anthology and go in.

Is romance your favorite genre to read as well as write?
I actually read a little bit of everything. Urban Fantasy is probably my favorite to read, a lot of time when I read romance I think “Well that’s not how I would have written it” and it takes the joy out of reading it. Steampunk is something I’m now discovering and getting into as well.

Can you tell me something about yourself that may surprise your readers?
I’m 26 years old and already have to switch from regular glasses to reading glasses.

Are you excited to be a part of the upcoming Ropin Romance event?
Super excited! One of my favorite things to do as an author is online events! I love being able to interact with the readers.

What do you do to help with writers block?
I go for a run or do house chores. Something mindless so that I can just let my brain wander on it’s own. If I’m super stuck, I’ll switch to another project, or go back over the project I’m stuck on just to see if something will come loose.

If you had to choose three words to describe what type of writer you are what would they be?
Dedicated, obsessed, spunky

What is your author pen name and do you have more than one?
I write under A.L. Kessler and Alexandra Webb

If you had to pick a favorite author who would it be?
If I had to pick it’d be Sherrilyn Kenyon, because not only is she a wonderful writer she is still a fantastic person and hasn’t forgotten the little people.
