I’ve been reading romance since 9th grade when my English teacher got discarded paperbacks (minus the covers) donated to her for us to read. One entire wall of her classroom was lined with tables that held flats of paperbacks in several genres.

Is romance your favorite genre to read as well as write?
For fiction, yes. Romance is like a tree with so many different sub-genre limbs to be explored. I can write a romance while playing with paranormal, suspense, contemporary, historical, etc.

Can you tell me something about yourself that may surprise your readers?
I’m really a loner at heart.

Are you excited to be a part of the upcoming Ropin Romance event?
Yes, I am. I love the opportunity to network with so many different authors while reaching a new thread of readers.

What do you do to help with writers block?
I don’t believe in writer’s block. Rather, I believe it’s my brain’s way of saying – ‘you need a break.’ I just venture into one of my many other creative pursuits for a while.

What is your author pen name and do you have more than one?
Angela Drake is my pen name. I use my real name (Kelly Henkins) for my music/ art writing and have yet to select one for my New Age non-fiction.

If you had to pick a favorite author who would it be?
Geez… put me on the spot with all my buds! hehe I’d have to say a tie between Vickie Lewis Thompson and Linda Lael Miller. I love the contemporary cowboys they create.

Many of the readers who will be seeing this interview and participating in the takeover will be new fans. If you had to describe your writing style and books in a single sentence what would it be?
Readers will get a true sense of who I am as I follow the ‘what if’ to create my stories and that everyone deserves at least a second chance at happiness.
