Aubree Lane

What was the first book you ever wrote and what inspired you?

I began by writing a series of short stories (which I never published), but they didn’t have enough teeth in them so I wrote Sierra Mist – a paranormal shape-shifting short. All my friends loved it and encouraged me to take the dive and become an Indie. You can never have too many friends like that. I will love them forever for their encouragement.
This may sound rude, but I was inspired to write because I am also an avid readers. I went through a period where the books I picked were just more of the same old thing. I began writing because I wanted something different an I figured everyone else did as well.

Can you tell us about your work including titles and share your amazon links?
Early One Morning is a Romantic Adventure. My goal was to keep readers engaged and sitting on the edge of their seat wondering how it was all going to work out. By the positive reviews I received I think I can safely say I was successful

Early One Morning B&N:

Sierra Mist is a short shape-shifting paranormal. This two to three hour read has been like the energizer bunny for me. It just keeps going and going. One month it had over 2,000 downloads. That is an incredible amount of sales for an Indie… well, at least for this Indie. LOL

What drew you in to the romance genre?
Romance is Queen in the world of fiction. Everyone loves a good romance. They take you away from your everyday world and let you dream about what is possible. Everyone woman wants to have a dark haired deity with a salacious smile of their very own. And you can never have too many book-boyfriends.

Is romance your favorite genre to read as well as write?
Yes! I read everything, but I always come back to romance, and even when I don’t write ‘romance’ their will probably always have a love interest of some sort. Love is what the makes the world go round. Love can make you do some pretty stupid things, but it can also have some pretty amazing outcomes.

Can you tell me something about yourself that may surprise your readers?
I have lived a very full life. I scuba dive, sky dive, I have traveled our country and even found time to raise a family. I remember complaining to my mom one day about how since I had kids I had lost my love for adventure. Mom laughed and said “Baby girl, having a family is an adventure all in itself.” She was right… as usual.

Are you excited to be a part of the upcoming Ropin Romance event?
Over-the-top EXCITED. Thank you so much for having me.

What do you to to help with writers block?
Have a Zombie conversation with my boys… you would be amazed how that can get your creative juices flowing again.

If you had to choose three words to describe what type of writer you are what would they be?
Amazon + Best + Seller!
Sorry, but I just saw that on Amazon today and I haven’t gotten over the shock.
The other three I would choose all begin with ‘T’, Tease, Twist and Tantalize.
I like to keep the surprises coming no matter what genre I write.

What is your author pen name and do you have more than one?
Aubree Lane. I don’t think I will ever have another. I know all the experts say you should use a different name for ‘branding’ purposes, but I’m a rebel. I choose not to take that advise.

If you had to pick a favorite author who would it be?
That usually changes with who ever I am reading at the moment. Today I’m in the middle of Scary Monsters by Diane Rinella. She is SO good. I highly recommend her.

Since many of the readers that will be seeing this interview and participating in the takeover will be new fans. If you had to describe your writing style and books in a single sentence what would it be?
I see you are testing my descriptive writing skills today… Let’s see?
Aubree Lane’s Third person torturous journey through plot twist after plot twist will keep you mystified and surprised to the very end.
