JD Nelson

What was the first book you ever wrote and what inspired you?
Night Aberrations. I was inspired by my husband’s Swedish ancestry and their rich mythological storytelling. It’s fun to take an event in history, (whether imagined or real) and twist it into a new story.

What drew you in to the romance genre?
It’s the only genre I’ve ever been interested in. A book without a little romance is hard for me to be satisfied with. 😉

Is romance your favorite genre to read as well as write?

Can you tell me something about yourself that may surprise your readers?
I work all the time. No really, all the time. Not only do I write, I also work as a scenic artist during the day in the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s a challenging job, but I get to work with clients like Facebook, Yahoo, Google, Paypal, Ebay, EA Games, Itunes, Apple, and even the San Jose Sharks and San Francisco 49er’s!

Are you excited to be a part of the upcoming Ropin Romance event?

What do you to to help with writers block?
I put a waterproof notepad in my shower. I seem to get my best ideas while I’m mindlessly shampooing my hair.

If you had to choose three words to describe what type of writer you are what would they be?
Procrastinator. Procrastinator. Procrastinator. I’m infamous for my delayed deadlines!

What is your author pen name and do you have more than one?
JD Nelson is my pen name for my adult books. Adeline Wright will be the pen name for my upcoming New Adult series.

If you had to pick a favorite author who would it be?
No question. Molly Harper.

Since many of the readers that will be seeing this interview and participating in the takeover will be new fans. If you had to describe your writing style and books in a single sentence what would it be?
I write romance with bark and bite!
