Krista Ames

What was the first book you ever wrote and what inspired you?
The first story I ever wrote, never saw the light of day. It was a romance mapped to follow briefly with myself and my 2 sisters. I can’t even imagine how hideous it probably is. The first story I published was a Christmas short story called Love in an Elevator and it was part of a Christmas anthology put out by Turquoise Morning Press. It has recently had rights reverted and will get reworked for this Christmas hopefully.

Can you tell us about your work including titles and share your amazon links?
The 3 I have currently published are with 3 different publishers. Unfortunately the 4 short stories I had published have all reverted rights but will all be reworked for redistribution.
Take Me Home, Cowboy – A Western Escape Western Contemp Romance – Decadent Publishing
Harper’s Wish – A Montana Series Christmas Novella – Roane Publishing
Second Nature – Book 1 in the Second Series – The Wild Rose Press

What drew you in to the romance genre?
Sadly enough, going thru an unpleasant divorce. I just immersed myself into reading as much as I could. I fell in love with the HEA a romance provides. I have since found my own HEA but once I was hooked that was it. Now I read and write what I love (trying to keep my wonderful hubby out of the details of my heroes  )!

Is romance your favorite genre to read as well as write?
It most definitely is ! I would like to try a few sub genres as in paranormal romance and YA romance but as far as romance goes, definitely my favorite !

Can you tell me something about yourself that may surprise your readers?
I’m not sure how surprised readers might be but I feel like I am completely unorganized.

I have 4 kids, blog on a regular over-booked schedule, run a promotions company to promote other authors and try to write myself.

Are you excited to be a part of the upcoming Ropin Romance event?
I definitely am ! I’m very new to participating in events but I love meeting new people so very excited to share me as an author 

What do you do to help with writers block?
I try not to find myself in that situation often but I walk away. Give myself, my mind a break. If I need a little inspiration to nudge me along, I’ll play one of my favorite songs or ill put a mushy movie in to get me in the mood again.

If you had to choose three words to describe what type of writer you are what would they be?
Pantster, procrastinator, Romantic

What is your author pen name and do you have more than one?
My author pen name is the same as my real name, Krista Ames. I don’t use any others, as of yet anyway

If you had to pick a favorite author who would it be?
Seriously? Just one? That’s an awful question to have to answer…but my first favorite will forever be Linda Lael Miller.

Since many of the readers that will be seeing this interview and participating in the takeover will be new fans. If you had to describe your writing style and books in a single sentence what would it be?

My writing is mushy and sweet, unexpected and hopelessly forever-after romance !
