What was the first book you ever wrote and what inspired you?
The first book I wrote was Woman of Honor, the first book in my Kingdom of Arnhem trilogy. I’ve always been fascinated by the knights and the Middle Ages and during research, I discovered there had been a real order of female knights. I immediately pictured a young girl asking her king to become a knight, citing those women and Woman of Honor was born.

What drew you in to the romance genre?
I’ve always been a hopeless romantic. I even married my first kiss! I love the giddiness, the heady rush of falling in love and writing romance allows me to relive that moment over and over.
Is romance your favorite genre to read as well as write?
Oh yes! All kinds – whether historical or contemporary, fantasy or paranormal. I read all kinds.
Can you tell me something about yourself that may surprise your readers?
My husband and I are trying to conceive. We have three wonderful boys already. One last chance for a baby girl!
Are you excited to be a part of the upcoming Ropin Romance event?
What do you do to help with writers block?
I tend to work on more than one story at a time, so if I’m stuck on one, I work on another.
If you had to choose three words to describe what type of writer you are what would they be?
Crazy, inventive, and prolific.
What is your author pen name and do you have more than one?
I write under my name – Nicole Zoltack.
If you had to pick a favorite author who would it be?
Oh, that’s too hard! I can’t just pick one, so JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, JK Rowling, Diana Gabaldon…
