What made you choose to write in the romance genre?
I’m a hopeless romantic who believes in love at first sight and happy endings. It just made sense for me to write the genre I most enjoy reading and that matches my personality.

How many books do you currently have out and which one would you recommend new readers start with?
I have 15 books being sold on Amazon. I recommend people starting with Premonitions because it is the first book in a series that has won me awards for romance and suspense. The characters are strong and have unusual experiences, but the plots are also very well-developed and not predictable.

Do you enjoy reading romance books as much as you like to write them?
Yes, I love reading romance novels, especially ones with steamy sex scenes. Erotic romance is probably my favorite sub-genre.

If you could co-write a new romance book with any other author who would you choose and why?
I would choose Nia Forrester because I love the way her characters seem so real, are complex, and prove that love can overcome even heartbreaking obstacles.

How do you think you have grown as an author from the time when you first started until now?
I think that I understand the mechanics of plot development better now than ever. My books flow well and I try to make sure I capture the reader’s attention right from the start. I’ve definitely grown to understand that pacing and drama are what keep many plots interesting.

If you had to describe the life of an author in three words what would you choose?
Demanding, flexible, and non-traditional.

Do you have any recent literary news that you would like to share with us?
Yes, I’m the author of contemporary romance, but I’ll be releasing an erotica series this summer under the pen name Josie Carver and recently made arrangements for a huge promotion campaign.  There will be parties, giveaways, swag, blog tours, and contests. The books will be available as ebooks but also paperback versions will be sold nationally in the 56 Lions Den Adult Bookstores in 22 states. The series is about the members of an African-American BDSM club, and there will be three books to begin the Club Starburst Series. One Lions Den local store has recently agreed to feature me with a book signing during the fall Ladies Night.

How long on average does it take you from start to finish to release a new book?
A full-length book normally takes me four to six weeks to write. Then I allow a couple of weeks for my editor to have it, followed by another week to revise and format the book to upload. So, three months would be a good estimate of how long it takes me to produce a book.

What book or books do you plan on promoting during your romance themed day takeover?
I will promote The Rescue Me Series, which is a trilogy of novellas about women who find themselves in situations where they need a little help. Sometimes they are in physical danger, and at other times they need help making the right choices with the right man.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice when it came to being an author what would you say and why?
My advice would be to be better organized. I find that the creation of books flows more smoothly if I take the time up front to lightly outline where I want the plot to go, pull pictures to represent my characters, and make a chart to keep all of the little details straight.
